Initial Syllable/Silaba inicial

The student grabs a card (syllable), reads it aloud, and places it in its corresponding place.  The purpose of the work is to reinforce initial sound, syllable reading & recognition, as well as vocabulary build-up.

El estudiante agarra una tarjeta que contiene una silaba, la lee en voz alta, y luego la coloca en su lugar correspondiente.  El proposito de este trabajo es reforzar el conocimiento del sonido inicial, silaba inicial & lectura de silabas, ademas de adquisicion de vocabulario.

In  this version of the work, the student grabs a picture card, names the object aloud and then places it under its beginning syllable sound.

En esta version del trabajo, el estudiante toma una lamina, la nombra en voz alta y luego la coloca debajo de su silaba inicial.

Initial Sound box/Cajita de Sonido inicial

I divided the Spanish alphabet in 4 baskets, based on how often the letter is used in the language.  Below are pictures of the first 2 boxes.  Each work contains (A tray-inside the tray small box with objects and letter cards).
The process is the following:
1-The child chooses the work
2-places it on the rug
3-spreads the letters across the top edge of it 
4-child chooses object from the box, says the word aloud, stretching its initial sound
5-child place object under its corresponding initial sound

Decidi dividir el alfabeto en 4 canastas; el orden lo base por  la frecuencia en que se utilizan los  sonidos en espanol.  A continuacion fotos de las primeras 2 cajitas.  Cada trabajo contiene (Una bandeja-sobre esta, un cajita con objetos y tarjetas de letras)
El procedimiento:
1-El nino escoje el trabajo
2-lo  coloca en la alfombra
3-coloca las letras en la parte de arriba de esta
4-el nino escoje un objeto de la cajita, dice el sonido en  voz alta, alargando su sonido inicial
6-el nino coloca el objecto bajo la letra (sonido inicial) correspondiente

ps- As you have noticed the fist picture shows most the vowels, two of them are missing because I have not been able to find objects for them yet.
Como podran haber notado la primera foto muestra la mayoria  de las vocales, dos de ellas no tengo suficientes objetos para cada uno de estos sonidos.

3 part Cards (Phonetic Picture cards with words).  The student places the control card (card with the picture and the name) at the edge of the rug and later on matches the remaining cards (picture cards and label cards) to it.

Tarjetas de 3 partes (Tarjetas foneticas con lamina y palabras).  El estudiante coloca la tarjeta "control" en la esquina de la alfombra y luego parea las tarjetas restantes al trabajo.

Super easy Christmas Tree. Great way to create a present for someone you love. Materials used: 3 popscicle (per child), a small piece of construction paper, liquid glue, yarn, and glitter. The children decorated their tree with craft materials we had in the classroom.

Arbol de Navidad-super facil. Una buena manera de hacerle un regalo a alguien quien uno quiere mucho. Materiales: 3 palitos de helado (por nino), un pedazo pequeno de papel de construccion), pegamento, hilo de lana y brillo. Los ninos decoraron el arbol como desearon, utilizando los materiales para manualidades que teniamos en el salon.

Fingerprint Snowman

This is my spin of an activity I encountered in Pinterest. My students first stamped numbers in order; then use their fingers to build a Snowman Stair. The activity took 2 days;since we needed to make sure all paint was dried before decorating the little guys. A little bit messy but lots of fun!

Esta es mi adaptacion a una actividad que encontre en Pinterest. Primero, mis estudiantes estamparon los numeros en order con sellos (estampas). Despues, usaron sus huellas para construir su muneco de nieve. La actividad no es muy limpia (por las pinturas), pero es muy divertida!

Cornmeal writing

The student grabs a letter from basket and traces it in cornmeal to practice handwriting.  Then, they gently shake the tray to erase the letter, and continue the activity with the different letters remaining in the basket they are working on.

El estudiante toma una letra de la canasta y la traza en la harina de maiz. Para 'borrar" la bandeja se agita suavemente y se continua la actividad con las letras restantes.

Querido Santa (letter to Santa)

I found this wonderful activity on Pinterest, and decided to do it with my students last week.  It turned out wonderful!  My students were not only excited about writing the letter, but also making their own Santa out of construction paper.

Encontre esta actividad en Pinterest, y decidi hacerla con mis estudiantes. El resultado fue maravilloso.  Mis estudiantes no tan solo se motivaron con la escritura, sino tambien con la construccion de su propio Santa (hecho de papel de construccion).
