Martin Luther King, Jr

This week we talked about Martin Luther King, Jr in class. We watched a movie on Brainpop-Jr. And did MLK portraits (The idea came from a similar activity I encounter on Pinterest). The pictures turned out wonderful. My students also made a list as group of the things they learned.

Homemade Sandpaper numeral-used to review number recognition.
All number cards are place facing down, they are carefully mixed and the students take turns knocking on a card.
The child that knocks says aloud: Knock, knock
The other child says: Who's there?
The child that knocks turns the card up and says the number. If they recognize it successfully he or she...

Some of my students have been struggling with these two letters, in order to help them "see the difference" I came up with this activity. I gave each child an already traced b and d (on construction paper). They did the cutting and the gluing.

Comparing letters b to d/Comparando letra b y d (sonido inicial/initial sound)
The student grabs a card from the pile. Says the word aloud, and then places it under its corresponding initial sound.
